About the opportunity
The Yusra Jinaan Foundation (YJF) is looking for a warm, reliable and community-minded volunteer to help strengthen support for disabled children and their families in High Wycombe. This is a voluntary role focused on building relationships, welcoming families and helping community activities run smoothly.
The volunteer will help YJF connect with parent carers from underrepresented communities , listen to what families need and support simple activities that reduce isolation and help families feel more included. This may include parent-carer sessions, family activities, feedback conversations and sharing agreed signposting information.
This is not a paid staff role and you do not need to be a qualified SEND professional. We are looking for someone who is approachable, trusted, organised and willing to learn, with a genuine interest in supporting disabled children and their families. Applications from parent carers are especially welcomed.
About the Yusra Jinaan Foundation
The Yusra Jinaan Foundation was founded in 2022 to honour the memory of our co-founders’ daughter, Yusra; a bright young soul who, despite battling a rare genetic disorder known as Joubert’s Syndrome, profoundly impacted all who knew her. Yusra, whose name means 'ease' in Arabic, inspires our mission: to bring ease and support to the lives of children with disabilities and their families.
The Foundation operates across three key streams, Child, Carer, and Community, to provide targeted support and resources that bridge gaps in accessibility and understanding within society. For children, we partner with organisations to facilitate access to healthcare, therapies, and services. For carers, we offer training, signposting, and culturally appropriate activities. For the community, we advocate for acceptance, improved literacy, and accessibility around disability, especially in culturally unfamiliar spaces.
We are also a proud member of the Disabled Children's Partnership, a coalition of 100 organisations campaigning for improved health and social care for disabled children and their families.
What you may help with
Be a friendly and approachable point of contact for parent carers and families.
Welcome families at parent-carer sessions, activities or community events.

Help promote YJF activities and encourage families to take part.
Build positive relationships with local organisations, schools, faith groups and community groups.
Help identify practical barriers families may face, such as timing, access, communication, sensory needs or confidence.
Keep brief notes of attendance, feedback themes and learning points where requested.
Raise any concerns or safeguarding issues promptly with the named YJF lead.
